Azure Devops Engineer

Contract Inside IR per day

Location: Remote, with 1 day per month in EITHER Newcastle or Leeds

We're looking for an experienced Azure Dev Ops Engineer to support one of our central governnent clients Azure Data Platform team, helping to build, automate, enhance and support cloud-native platforms and Dev Ops capabilities across a complex Azure estate.

As an Azure Dev Ops Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and platform automation across Microsoft's Azure Data Platform.

You'll work closely with engineering and delivery teams to build resilient, scalable and highly available solutions while promoting Dev Ops best practices and an automation-first mindset.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops tool chains.
• Building and automating Azure-based infrastructure and platform services.
• Supporting Azure Data Platform services across multiple environments.
• Working with product and engineering teams to gather requirements and implement technical solutions.
• Developing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code solutions.
• Provisioning environments and supporting operational issues.
• Driving engineering best practice, automation and platform improvements.
• Supporting proof of concepts, innovation projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentoring and supporting engineers within Agile delivery teams.

Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience (minimum SFIA Level 4 equivalent) across:

• Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure Data Lake

• Strong experience supporting and developing Azure cloud-based platforms and applications.
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Azure Dev Ops, Git Lab or similar Dev Ops tooling experience.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code experience.
• Strong Terraform experience.

• Experience working within Linux, Unix and Windows environments.
• Strong scripting experience using Power Shell, Bash or similar.
• Experience supporting and automating cloud infrastructure.

• Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Experience with tools such as:
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • Azure Monitor
  • Log Analytics

• Proven experience working within Agile Dev Ops environments.
• Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment experience.
• Experience working across Scrum and/or Kanban delivery teams.

• Ability to work independently on complex technical issues.
• Experience supporting, mentoring and guiding engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Demonstrable ownership and accountability for technical delivery.
