3rd Line IT Support Engineer

We’re working with an IT services provider based in Bristol, who are looking for an 3rd Line IT Support Engineer to join their team on an initial 3 month contract.

They are looking for someone with strong M365 and cloud experience, particularly across Active Directory, Entra , Intune and Microsoft 365, alongside hands-on experience with patch management and Cyber Essentials compliance.

Responsibilities:

* Provide 3rd line technical support, resolving complex incidents and escalations across client environments

* Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra  Intune

* Manage patching and software updates across Windows servers, desktops and other endpoints

* Identify and remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring systems remain secure and compliant

* Support Cyber Essentials compliance, implementing security controls and addressing gaps identified during assessments

* Configure and maintain endpoint management, device compliance and security policies through Intune

* Troubleshoot Windows Server, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and general infrastructure issues

* Manage user identities, access permissions and security policies across on-premises and cloud environments

* Support infrastructure improvements, system upgrades and security-related projects

* Maintain accurate technical documentation and provide support to 1st and 2nd line engineers where required

Requirements:

* Previous experience in a 3rd Line IT Support, Infrastructure Support or Senior IT Support Engineer role

* Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory, Entra  Microsoft 365 administration

* Experience managing devices, policies and endpoint security through Microsoft Intune

* Proven experience with patch management, including deploying updates and remediating vulnerabilities

* Practical experience supporting Cyber Essentials compliance and implementing required security controls

* Strong Windows Server and Windows 10/11 administration and troubleshooting skills

* Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP

* Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues across Microsoft infrastructure environments

* Ability to work independently and manage technical escalations

* Strong communication, troubleshooting and documentation skills

Nice to Have:

* Previous experience working within an MSP or supporting multiple client environments

* Cyber Essentials Plus experience, including preparing environments for technical assessments

* Experience with Windows Update for Business, WSUS or SCCM for patch management

* Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access and security policy configuration

* Azure infrastructure and hybrid Active Directory environments

* VMware or Hyper-V virtualisation experience

* Experience supporting infrastructure migrations, upgrades and security improvement projects

Contract Details:

* Initial 3 month contract

* Outside IR35

* Bristol-based
