Claims & Service Adviser - Shoeburyness, Essex
£26,000-£28,000 basic salary, depending on experience, with a higher salary potentially available for the right candidate, particularly someone with closely relevant insurance experience. Full-time, office-based.

CKB Recruitment is working with an established insurance business to recruit a Claims & Service Adviser for its team in Shoeburyness.
Covering gadget insurance, travel insurance and ticket protection, this varied role will give you the opportunity to broaden your knowledge across several products. You'll handle claims, sales enquiries, policy servicing and first-line complaints, taking ownership and working closely with colleagues to deliver a positive customer experience.

You’ll work across claims and customer service, helping customers understand their options and keeping cases moving towards resolution.
- Handling mobile phone and gadget claims involving loss, theft and accidental damage, including cover provided alongside travel insurance.
- Managing ticket protection claims and refund requests once cross-trained.
- Responding to travel, mobile phone and gadget insurance sales and service enquiries.
- Liaising with underwriters on travel-related product queries.
- Working with repair and fulfilment colleagues to progress and conclude claims.
- Processing premium and excess payments.
- Managing policy cancellations and retention conversations.
- Recording and handling first-line complaints in line with company procedures.
- Working with finance colleagues on payment and reconciliation queries.
- Supporting colleagues across the business and suggesting improvements to processes and customer service.
Previous claims or customer service experience within a regulated insurance business is essential.
You’ll be customer-focused, enthusiastic and keen to develop your insurance knowledge, with the confidence to take responsibility for a varied workload.
You’ll also need:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence on the telephone and by email.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A positive, hardworking and self-motivated approach.
- The ability to manage multiple products, tasks and priorities in a busy, evolving environment.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to ask questions and contribute ideas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience handling complaints, investigating potential fraud or working in additional languages would be beneficial, although these are not essential.
This role is fully office-based in Shoeburyness, with close day-to-day collaboration between the manager and team. Hybrid working is not available.
Working hours are:
- Monday-Wednesday: 9:00am-5:30pm.
- Thursday-Friday: 9:00am-5:00pm.
