Specialist Family Law Practice | Hybrid Working

A leading and award-winning specialist family law firm is looking to appoint a Family Lawyer to join its rapidly growing Brighton office.

This is an opportunity to join one of the South Coast's most respected family law practices at a particularly exciting stage of its growth. The firm has developed an exceptional reputation for combining sophisticated privately funded work with a genuinely progressive and supportive culture centred around modern, constructive family law practice.

Unlike many firms experiencing rapid expansion, the leadership team remains deeply committed to preserving the culture and ethos that has underpinned its success. The ambition is clear - continued strategic growth, exceptional client service and ongoing career progression opportunities - without becoming a volume-driven or overly corporate environment.

The practice is particularly well known for its strength in mediation, collaborative law and non-court dispute resolution, alongside handling a broad range of high quality HNW and UHNW matters. Lawyers are encouraged to develop modern dispute resolution skills early in their careers, creating a more constructive, rewarding and sustainable style of family law practice.

The Opportunity

  • Broad privately funded family caseload
  • Excellent mix of financial remedy and children matters
  • Exposure to HNW and UHNW clients, typically involving assets in the £5M-£15M range
  • Strong focus on mediation, collaborative law and constructive dispute resolution
  • Opportunity to train or further develop expertise in Collaborative Law and Mediation
  • High quality work combined with a significantly healthier long-term working culture
  • Join a highly regarded and ambitious specialist family law team
  • Genuine progression opportunities as the firm continues to expand carefully and strategically

The Firm

This specialist family law practice has received significant recognition in recent years, including rankings in relevant legal directories, as well as multiple industry and employer awards.

The firm is widely recognised for combining first-class legal work with an unusually supportive and people-focused culture. There is a strong emphasis on flexibility, wellbeing, collaboration and creating an environment where lawyers can build long-term successful careers without sacrificing balance or professional fulfilment.

Candidate Requirements

  • UK qualified solicitor with strong private client family law (4-8

    PQE)
  • Confident leading matters (and knowing when to seek assistance and support)
  • Strong private client family law experience
  • Experience across both financial remedy and children matters
  • Comfortable handling matters with a good level of autonomy
  • Interest in mediation, collaborative law or wider non-court resolution approaches
  • Strong interpersonal and client handling skills
  • Commercial awareness and enthusiasm for networking and business development

Salary & Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary depending on experience
  • Hybrid and genuinely flexible working arrangements (e.g. 3 days per week in the office with additional flexibility possible for the right person to open up commuting from South West London).
  • Full-time or part-time considered
  • Modern office environment
  • Strong administrative and paralegal support
  • Excellent progression opportunities
  • Ongoing professional development and specialist training
  • Supportive and collaborative culture focused on long-term career satisfaction and wellbeing
