Court of Protection Paralegal —

Position Overview:

Work with a team of partners, solicitors and paralegals in the Court of Protection department
Assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients
Attend clients at hospitals, care homes and in their own homes
Work under the supervision of a Partner, receiving cases from across the team
Continue to develop your legal ability

Key Responsibilities of the Court of Protection Paralegal:

Assisting in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients
Assisting in the provision of legal advice under supervision and taking notes in client meetings
Attending clients at hospitals, care homes and in their homes
Making regular payments to clients, keeping accurate schedules, forecasting spending and creating budgets
Managing written and telephone correspondence with clients, solicitors and third parties professionally and confidentially
Producing plain English letters, witness statements, court applications and other documents
Delegating and supervising tasks where appropriate and maintaining client care standards

Requirements of the Court of Protection Paralegal:

A degree in Law and previous Court of Protection experience is preferred but not essential
Good Microsoft skills, particularly Word and Excel, and the ability to work with figures
Able to work to tight deadlines and work well under pressure
Organised, with the ability to prioritise
A flexible and proactive approach with a 'can do' attitude
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with a good customer focus
