contract based in Burghfield 100% attendance onsite

AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. In this role you will Ensure alignment and collaboration between SCM and the Tech Centres to identify the demand plan and drive value for money though effective commercial strategy and prioritisation planning. Ensure an effective handshake between the programme and the SCM function on the pipeline of activity to be delivered
Collaborating with key suppliers, the AMBU Supply Chain Manager will oversee, optimise, and coordinate the end-to-end supply chain so that production has the right materials, at the right time, in the right quantity, at the right costs enabling reliable manufacturing output and End customer satisfaction.
As a Supply Chain Manager, your main responsibilities will be:- Post Procurement co-ordination of the end-to-end supply chain.
- Ensure availability of materials and components to support production schedules and prevent downtime.
- Driving continuous improvement with contracted suppliers and Supply Chain.
- Managing supplier performance to secure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Building strong collaborative supplier relationships and supporting with negotiation of supplier contracts and minor disputes.
- Ensuring compliance to regulations and quality standards (including GMP).
- Maintaining ERP systems to a high standard, through collaborative working with operations to synchronise supply with manufacturing demand forecasts.
- Anticipate and manage supply disruptions, quality issues, and market volatility.
- Optimise stock levels to minimise carrying costs while preventing shortages.
- Cost management through the identification and implementation of cost saving opportunities across procurement, storage, and transportation.
- Co-ordinate inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely delivery and efficient distribution.
- Active DV Clearance
- Experience working within supply chain or procurement
- A good standard of education or proven experience
- MCIPS qualified or working towards or equivalent qualification/experience is desirable.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build constructive working relationships and challenge inappropriate behaviour/activities.
- Experience working within high regulated industries - Public sector, defence, and aerospace.
- Good Manufacturing Experience (GMP) within manufacturing industries - aerospace, automotive, defence.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- ERP system experience.
- Background managing suppliers and support contract deliveries.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers.
- Previous AWE experience
- MCIPS
