You will be working as part of the Facilities Team at the hospice that covers the Site Technicians, Housekeepers, and Catering staff. The Facilities Team is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, catering and Health & Safety of this site as well as the Site Technicians being responsible for minor maintenance at all our retails outlets within Essexand Hertfordshire.
Main duties of the jobTo maintain all equipment within the Hospice premises and grounds, including general building maintenance and repairs, redecoration, and small building projects
Occasional travel to St Clare Hospice shops to carry out general maintenance
Accurate recording of the servicing of hospice equipment in accordance with manufacturers guidelines
Carrying out mandatory Health & Safety testing as per hospice and HSE guidelines
Emergency On Call for hospice premises on a rota basis
St Clare Hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative care to improve the lives ofpeople affected by a life-limiting illness in West Essex and the borders of eastern
Hertfordshire. Our care helps patients, their families, and carers, to make the most ofevery moment together, no matter how long they have left to live. We support them both athome and in the Hospice.
The maintenance of all equipment and plant, with the exception of IT, within the hospice according to the manufacturers specification and Hospice Infection Control requirements To carry out general building repairs and redecoration, supervising groups of volunteers when required on hospice projects
To undertake small building projects, general carpentry, and basic plumbing and electrical work within the hospice or retail premises
Fire alarm and emergency light testing on a weekly basis, recording results and informing the Facilities Manager of any defects

Portable Appliance Testing of all electrical equipment as per hospice and HSEguidelines
Weekly and monthly equipment and plant checks, in accordance with the maintenance schedule
Carry out Health & Safety checks where required
Minor internal office moves
Collect and/or drop off medical equipment from servicing contractors
Minor maintenance within hospice shops in Essex and Herts Evaluating and costing of proposed works for budget holders' decision
To participate in the Emergency on Call rota Cover for annual leave and sickness
- English and Maths to GCSE level 2 or equivalent
- At least two years experience of a range of tasks
- Risk Assessment experience and / or of CoSHH assessments
- Electrical experience

£26,764 to £27,432 a year depending on experience & inclusive of 5% HCA
