School Caretaker

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Caretaker / Cleaner to work at a school in Leigh, WN7.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors
• Clean and sanitise toilets, kitchens, and communal areas
• Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately
• Dust and clean surfaces, fixtures, and fittings
• Replenish consumables (toilet paper, soap, etc.)
• Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and correctly

• Open and lock buildings as required
• Carry out basic maintenance (e.g. changing light bulbs, minor repairs)
• Monitor building condition and report faults or hazards
• Ensure heating, lighting, and alarm systems are operating correctly
• Set up rooms for meetings or events (tables, chairs, equipment)
• Respond to emergency situations when necessary

• Follow health and safety procedures at all times
• Ensure safe storage and handling of cleaning materials
• Report hazards, accidents, or incidents promptly
• Maintain a safe environment for occupants and visitors

• Previous cleaning or caretaking / maintenance experience
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
• Basic maintenance/DIY skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good attention to detail
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy

• Hardworking and proactive
• Friendly and approachable
• Strong sense of responsibility
• Flexible and willing to adapt to changing tasks

• Monday - Friday 6am-9am & 2.30pm-5.30pm (6 hours a day split shift)
• Manual handling and physical activity required
• Use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• May include working indoors and outdoors

£15 per hour
