About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking School Janitor to join our team in Edinburgh on. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and well-presented environments within an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises daily
• Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general handyman duties
• Ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and external areas
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and alarm systems
• Assisting with setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities
• Conducting basic health & safety checks and reporting issues promptly
• Supporting contractors and ensuring site compliance

What We’re Looking For

• Previous janitorial, maintenance, or facilities experience (school experience desirable but not essential)
• Basic DIY and maintenance skills
• Good understanding of health & safety practices
• Reliable, punctual, and proactive approach to work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
• PVG/Disclosure Scotland check (or willingness to obtain)
