Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Complexity:
Assist in the operational delivery for site activity
- To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS client
- Provide management support to stakeholders such as University Hospitals Birmingham and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trusts where instructed/required
- To carry out all works in compliance with Equans KPI's
- Manage individually assigned work effectively to ensure site performance via use of CAFM systems and other digital based management tools is accurate when reviewed by management
- Achieve, manage and maintain AP/CP appointments in disciplines as requested by estates management team to support the contract where required and appropriate
- To be conversant with and work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations (CDM), HTMs, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory
Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications, without supervision.
Set up 'New Work' appropriate to his/her own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, as appropriate to his/her grade.
To manage workshops and working environment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
Response and Rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay. Where there is risk of failure to achieve SLAs swiftly intervene and resolve via 'recall to work' procedure for emergency repairs as required
- To ensure that immediate corrective action is taken in the event of emergencies, so that the Trusts/client needs are met, to avoid danger to people, property, and service provision.
Requirement to learn new techniques with training as necessary.
Scope of work will include entering Mortuary, ITU's, A&E admissions, Operating Theatres etc after reporting to Trust Staff. Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances could be encountered.
Ensure that plant and equipment data and information is delivered in an accurate and timely manner to enable accurate Condition Surveys and assist in the subsequent Lifecycle Planning as required.
Carry out work in line with any reasonable management instruction.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Required
Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
Healthcare and/or Healthcare PFI experience
City & Guilds (or equivalent) trade related qualifications with some examples listed below.
Mechanical
City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Level 2 & 3
City & Guilds Pipe fitting & Plumbing Level 2 & 3
City & Guilds Plumbing Level 2 & 3
Relevant City & Guilds Mechanical qualifications
Electrical
Electrical Installation - Approved apprenticeship with either:
City & Guild 236 Part 1, 2 & 3 Parts A, B, C or
City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1, 2, 3 or
City & Guilds 2330 Level 2, Level 3, (Level 4 - desirable) or
City & Guilds 2560 (2357) - Diploma
18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS (Apply online only) Amendment)
City & Guilds 2394 Testing & Inspection Certification
City & Guilds 2395 Testing & Inspection Certification
Desirable -
ONC or National Certificate in relevant area
HNC/HND in a relevant area
HTM-02 Authorised Persons for Medical Gas Pipelines Systems (MGPS)
HTM-03 Authorised Persons for specialist Ventilations Systems
HTM-06-(02)(03) Authorised Persons for LV and/or HV
Minimum of five years of LV Knowledge & experience
Minimum of five years of HV Knowledge & experience

Confined Spaces Authorised Persons
MEWP Training IPAF
IOSH/NEBOSH General/Fire certificates
IWFM certification
Degree/Masters degree in related engineering discipline
