We are looking for a Cleaning Operative to help maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the Calanais Visitor Centre. The Cleaning Operative will play an important role in ensuring that the Calanais Visitor Centre provides a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our visitors and staff.

The role will involve cleaning across all areas of the Visitor Centre as required, with duties and priorities varying depending on operational needs. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, take pride in maintaining high standards and identify and reportany cleaning, maintenance or safety issues.

This is a permanent, part-time position. Hours will varyseasonally, with 9 hours per week from April to September and 8 hours per weekfrom October to March.

Working hours will be over Monday to Saturday and will generally be scheduled either in the early morning before the Visitor Centreopens or in the evening after closing.

• Clean public, staff and operational areas in line with cleaning schedules and operational requirements.
• Vacuum,sweep, mop, and maintain floors and surfaces to a high standard.
• Cleanand sanitise toilets and washrooms, replenishing consumables as required.
• Emptywaste and recycling bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Carryout deep-cleaning tasks and clean internal windows and glass surfaces when required.
• Undertakecleaning of entrance and external areas, including litter picking where necessary.
• Usecleaning products and equipment safely, following COSHH and health and safety procedures.
• Followlone-working, keyholding and alarm procedures where applicable.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards or damage promptly.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and advise when stock replenishment is required.
• Support additional cleaning requirements during busy periods, events or operational needs.

• Abilityto maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
• Abilityto work independently and manage cleaning tasks effectively within the time available.
• Reliable and able to work Monday
  - Saturday, early mornings or evenings as required.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a widerteam.
• An understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
• Abilityto follow cleaning procedures, product instructions and COSHH requirements.
• Abilityto undertake the physical requirements of the role, including standing,bending, lifting and carrying associated with normal cleaning duties.
