Band 5 Deputy Logistics Manager

We are looking for an individual with proven knowledge of logistics and supply chain management to join our busy warehouse team at UHB's Meteor Park Distribution Centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience managing a team to move into a role supporting the delivery of our core services, the wider trust and ICB.
This is a 12 month fixed term post and would suit someone already in a similar role who is looking for their next challenge or someone who is looking to hone their skills in a fast paced logistics setting.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be responsible for day to day management of one of our shift teams, and will be required to rotate hours on a 3 weekly rota in line with our other deputy logistics managers.
Their main role will be to support the Logistics Manager / Operations Manager and to manage Logistics Services at Meteor Park in relation to movement of materials from source to all areas currently serviced. This includes ensuring services are managed professionally, suggesting improvements, implementing new techniques, organising work schedules and manpower, developing new work models and training staff whilst managing their personal development to meet national and trust guidelines.
The post holder will also be required to lead responsibilities as a member of the Logistics Service team as agreed with the Logistics Manager/Operations Manager, on new developments, projects and other objectives relating to the Logistics and Warehousing services.

In addition to the main duties, the post holder will have day to day management responsibility for the delivery of the logistics service, including urgent requests. The post holder must ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for the service to be effectively provided at all Trust sites during the shift period, for purposes of briefing, training and general management of staff.
PersonSpecification Qualifications
- Good Standard of General Education to GCSE or equivalent level
- HND qualification and/or relevant experience
- Experience of working in one of the following services:
- Procurement / Purchasing
- Warehousing
- Inventory Control
- Distribution Management
- Knowledge of professional procurement principles and supply chain management acquired through NVQ Level 4 or relevant equivalent experience
- Understands principles of stock taking procedures
- Knowledge of operational procedures
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis
- Experience of working in a Hospital support services environment
- Experience in liaising with senior stakeholders
- Experience in the management of teams
