Worcestershire County Council is looking for an experienced and inspirational Trading Standards and Animal Health Manager to lead our highly regarded service

This is a significant leadership role responsible for managing a professional team delivering Trading Standards and Animal Health functions, including fair trading, consumer protection, product safety, weights and measures, age restricted sales, food standards and animal health enforcement.

Working within Public Health and reporting to the Head of Safer Communities, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, oversee service planning and performance, manage budgets and resources, and ensure the Council continues to meet its statutory responsibilities. You will also act as the Council's Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures and represent the service at local, regional and national forums.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Trading Standards professional with substantial management experience and a strong track record of leading teams, developing partnerships and delivering successful outcomes in a complex regulatory environment. You will be comfortable working with elected members, senior officers, government agencies and a wide range of stakeholders, whilst maintaining a focus on protecting residents, supporting legitimate businesses and improving public health outcomes.

You will possess a recognised Trading Standards qualification together with significant leadership experience. Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside the ability to lead through change, manage competing priorities and motivate others to deliver high-quality services.
