We are looking for a proactive and organised Goods In & Stores Operative to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of our stores function. In this role, you will ensure materials and parts are received, stored, picked and issued accurately, safely and on time to keep production running efficiently. Working closely with Inventory Control, Purchasing and Production, you will help resolve shortages, manage stock accuracy and respond to urgent requirements.
You’ll play a key part in maintaining high standards of housekeeping, stock care and ERP transaction accuracy, ensuring the right parts are available where and when they are needed. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride in organisation, teamwork and maintaining a safe, efficient working environment.
- Receive, unload and check deliveries against purchase orders, reporting any shortages or damages.
- Accurately complete ERP transactions for receipts, issues, transfers and returns, maintaining stock accuracy and traceability.
- Label, store and manage stock in the correct locations, following stock care and segregation requirements.
- Pick, kit and issue materials to production in line with priorities, ensuring part numbers and quantities are correct.
- Prepare, pack and dispatch goods and spares orders (where applicable), completing required paperwork and coordinating with carriers.
- Process supplier and internal returns, managing non‑conforming stock in line with company procedures.
- Support cycle counts and stock checks, reporting and helping investigate discrepancies.
- Safely move materials between stores, production and subcontractors, escalating shortages or delays that may impact production.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for outside processing, coordinating dispatch and returns to subcontract suppliers.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised stores environment (5S), following all Health & Safety procedures.
- Operate material handling equipment (including pallet trucks and FLT where trained), carrying out pre‑use checks and reporting defects.
- Work closely with Inventory, Supply Chain, Planning and Production teams to ensure materials flow efficiently.
- A Level, GCSE or equivalent
- Fork lift licence
- IT literate knowledge of ERP (or similar) software systems
- Working knowledge of shipping UK/Export
- Experience of logistic procedures/Export management
- Stores/Warehouse supervision experience
- Logistic knowledge and experience
