The Role s

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing their team and production within their given area in line with the production schedule and business needs.

The Team Leader is the day-to-day owner of performance, standards and continuous improvement within their production area, ensuring work is carried out safely, to standards and improved over time.

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Production & Workflow Management: Lead daily production activity in your area by planning, allocating and monitoring work to meet the production schedule, ensuring materials/stock are available and issues are escalated early.
  • Factory Standards: Take ownership of factory standards by maintaining excellent housekeeping, visual organisation, and ensuring standard ways of working are followed consistently.
  • People Management: Manage and support your team day-to-day by setting clear expectations, coaching performance and skills, handling attendance/behaviour matters, and completing key people processes in line with HR procedures.
  • Quality: Drive “right first time” production by completing quality checks and paperwork, addressing issues promptly, raising NCRs where required, and working collaboratively to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and reduce waste in your area by encouraging team-led improvements and working with other leaders to improve flow and remove recurring production issues.
  • Equipment: Maintain operational efficiency by ensuring tools and machinery are in safe working order and reporting breakdowns or repair needs immediately.
  • Health & Safety: Promote a safe working environment by ensuring full compliance with PPE and safe working practices, maintaining clear and organised work areas, and delivering toolbox talks as required.
About You

? Have you proven experience leading a small team or acting as a ‘lead hand’ / supervisor?

Person Specification:

Qualifications and Experiences
  • Experience working in a manufacturing / factory / workshop environment
    .
  • Proven ability to lead a team (Team Leader/Supervisor/Lead Hand) and manage daily performance.
  • Able to plan, prioritise and allocate work to meet production schedules and changing business needs.
  • Confident running a daily start-of-shift briefing covering safety, quality, production plan and risks.
  • Strong understanding of quality control and completing production/quality documentation accurately.
  • Ability to maintain high factory standards (housekeeping, tool control, storage and visual organisation).
  • Hands‑on people management capability, including attendance, timekeeping, performance and conduct in line with HR processes. Strong communication skills and ability to coach and support team members to achieve “right first time” output.
  • Health & Safety awareness
    , ensuring safe working practices, PPE compliance and hazard prevention.
  • Reliable, accountable and professional—able to lead by example and remain calm under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements (e.g.,
    Managing Safely
    ).
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement activities and reducing waste (rework, waiting time, poor layout).
  • Experience raising and managing Non Conformity Reports and working cross-functionally to resolve quality concerns.
  • Experience completing probation reviews and supporting onboarding of staff.
  • Developing standard ways of working to ensure consistency across the team.
  • Strong cross-team working skills to ensure smooth handovers and early escalation of risks impacting other departments.
