Overview
Due to increasing demand, we are expanding our production teams and are seeking a versatile Setting / Assembly / Lamination Operative on a full-time, permanent basis. This role combines key elements of mould preparation, GRP laminating, and housing assembly, supporting the manufacture of high-quality composite structures delivered across the UK and internationally. This is a hands-on manufacturing role suited to individuals with a practical mindset, a keen eye for detail, and an appreciation of accuracy and fit in engineered products.
Previous GRP or manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities- Preparing and setting moulds, including removing cured panels from moulds and cleaning and protecting mould surfaces prior to laminating
- Re-installing mould formers, frames, and inserts accurately
- Carrying out GRP laminating operations in accordance with work instructions, including resin and reinforcement placement and ensuring correct fibre orientation, consolidation, and finish quality
- Assembling GRP housings and components, including walls, roofs, doors, and associated fittings, with accurate alignment and fixing to achieve correct fit and finish
- Working from engineering drawings and production information with an understanding of measurements, dimensions, and tolerances, and the ability to follow drawings and instructions accurately
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship with a strong attention to detail to ensure components meet design and quality requirements
- Practical experience with hand tools and general manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and work from drawings and specifications
- Appreciation of design tolerances and dimensional accuracy
- Good understanding of basic measurements and the importance of repeatability
- A methodical approach and keen eye for detail
- Willingness to learn GRP composite processes and follow instructions
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a production team
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 15:15
- Pay rates dependent on experience and successful completion of probation, aligned with existing laminator, assembler, and setting labourer roles
- Benefits include: 28 days holiday rising to 32 days, free onsite parking, full training provided
- £12.21 per hour
- Payday on a Wednesday (money will increase in April)
