Inspector / Machinist

  • Salary: 17.70 per hour plus shift allowance at 12.5%

The Role:

We're looking for a highly detail-focused Inspector / Machinist to support inspection and CNC machining processes, ensuring all products meet strict medical and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections
  • Complete DIR reports and OGP scanning
  • Use precision measuring equipment (callipers, verniers, micrometers)
  • Record results accurately in Excel and internal systems
  • Reject and quarantine non-conforming product
  • Set, load, and operate CNC machines
  • Verify parts against engineering drawings and tolerances
  • Complete route cards, inspection sheets, and traceability documentation
  • Escalate quality or machine issues promptly
  • Support Lean, 5S, and EHS initiatives

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in CNC machining and/or inspection
  • Strong ability to use measurement tools (verniers, callipers, micrometres)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings & GD&T
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • Good working knowledge of quality control processes
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and basic IT systems
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with in medical device, aerospace, or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with OGP / CMM inspection equipment
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 or similar quality standards
  • Previous experience with traceability and batch control
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
  • Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
