Alliance Personnel are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join our manufacturing client in B11.
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating sliding head CNC lathes equipped with Fanuc controls to produce precision-engineered components to customer specifications and quality standards.
The role requires strong technical knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and inspection techniques, with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate sliding head CNC lathes using Fanuc controls.
- Create and modify CNC programs to optimise cycle times and improve productivity.
- Set up machines, tooling, and fixtures for new and existing production jobs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and CAD data.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies.
- Conduct first-off inspections and make necessary program or offset adjustments.
- Monitor machining processes to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements are achieved.
- Perform in-process inspections using measuring equipment such as:
- Micrometers
- Vernier calipers
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Optical measuring equipment
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to minimise downtime.
- Maintain tooling inventories and ensure tools are in good working condition.
- Complete production documentation and quality records accurately.
- Adhere to company quality standards, health and safety procedures, and housekeeping requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving efficiency.
- Train and assist less experienced operators where required.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with sliding head machines.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
- Experience in aerospace, medical, automotive, defence, or precision engineering sectors.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Apprenticeship or formal engineering qualification.
Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- Day shift
- Overtime available when required.
