New Product Battery Build Operator
Location: Southam, Warwickshire
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: 28- 32k per annum (Depending on Experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Battery Build Operator to support battery remanufacturing, rebuilding, stripping, testing, and production activities. The successful candidate will work as part of a growing battery technology operation, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and risk management procedures.
Maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Support internal and external audits by providing accurate information and documentation.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Production Operations
Support battery remanufacturing, rebuilding, disassembly, testing, and inspection activities.
Complete production and manufacturing records accurately.
Carry out quality control checks and inspections throughout the production process.
Inventory & Maintenance
Assist with inventory management and stock control.
Ensure materials, consumables, and components are available to support production.
Support the movement and handling of materials within the facility.
Assist maintenance and engineering teams with equipment setup, calibration, fault reporting, and preventative maintenance activities.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to process improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and sustainability.
Support initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, and optimising manufacturing processes.
Collect and analyse production data to support operational improvements.
Technical Responsibilities
Depending on operational requirements, the Battery Technician may support activities across multiple stages of battery manufacturing and refurbishment:
Cell Assembly
Prepare for cell assembly operations.
Perform cell assembly activities.
Formation, Ageing & Testing
Prepare equipment and products for formation and testing activities.
Conduct formation, ageing, testing, and final inspection processes.
Record and report test results accurately.
Module & Pack Assembly
Prepare for battery module and pack assembly.
Ensure products meet required quality and performance standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions.
Basic mechanical or electrical aptitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
Ideally qualified to work with HV batteries (IMI level
4)Previous experience in battery technology, manufacturing, engineering, electronics, or a related technical environment.
Experience using production equipment and test systems.
Knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems and assembly processes.
Forklift or materials handling experience.
Important: Due to the use of powerful magnets within the working environment, candidates must be able to safely work around strong magnetic fields. This role may not be suitable for individuals with pacemakers or other magnet-sensitive implanted medical devices
