Mechanical Assembler – Long Term Contract

£23.18 per hour (Inside IR35). Overtime is available at enhanced rates.

Shift Patterns
  • Early Shift – Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:00pm
  • Late Shift – Monday to Wednesday, 2:00pm to Midnight;
    Thursday, 2:00pm to 11:30pm;
    Friday Off every week

The Role

As a Mechanical Assembler you will be responsible for the assembly, overhaul and refurbishment of critical rail components.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and overhaul mechanical rolling stock components
  • Repair and refurbish braking systems and bogie components
  • Strip, inspect and rebuild a wide range of brake system products
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow established engineering procedures and quality standards
  • Complete accurate maintenance and build records
About You

We are looking for motivated Mechanical Assemblers who take pride in delivering high‑quality workmanship and can thrive in a fast‑paced engineering environment. Experience in rail, heavy engineering, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing or a similar mechanical background is desirable.

Essential Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
  • Strong mechanical assembly, fitting or overhaul experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience using hand tools and workshop equipment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Understanding of safe working practices in a safety‑critical environment
  • Ability to complete accurate documentation and records
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 in a mechanical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Previous rolling stock, heavy engineering, manufacturing or automotive experience
