Flamingo Plants is looking for a motivated and hands‑on Machine Minder to join our production team in Sandy. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring production machinery, leading a small team, and ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
You will play a key role in maximising machine performance, reducing downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and helping the team achieve daily production targets.
Key Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery to achieve daily output targets.
- Lead and support a small production team, ensuring safe and efficient working practices.
- Identify and resolve production or quality issues, escalating where necessary.
- Monitor machine performance and record downtime, faults, and productivity data.
- Work closely with the Engineering team to minimise downtime and improve performance.
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Carry out machine pre‑start checks and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
- Support changeovers, ensuring they are completed efficiently to minimise disruption.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, SOPs, SSOWs, and PPE requirements.
- Assist with audits, continuous improvement projects, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Support training and development of team members and provide cover for Team Leaders when required.
- Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing, production, or packaging environment.
- Strong problem‑solving and organisational skills.
- Good communication, literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead by example.
- Experience recording production data and monitoring performance metrics.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
