About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an innovative and rapidly growing manufacturing business operating within the biotechnology sector. We are seeking a Fermentation / Chemical Process Operator to support production activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of fermentation and processing equipment.

This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to the scale-up of sustainable manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate fermentation, processing, and manufacturing equipment in line with standard procedures.
  • Monitor process performance and maintain product quality standards.
  • Clean, sanitise, and maintain production equipment and vessels.
  • Complete batch records and production documentation accurately.
  • Carry out routine sampling and support quality activities.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate where required.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, GMP, hygiene, and housekeeping.
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong understanding of chemical and factory safety.
  • Experience or knowledge of laboratory, chemical, or manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts as operations expand.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn.

Desirable:

  • Experience with in biotechnology, fermentation, chemical, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or bioprocessing environments.
  • Previous experience operating production plant or automated process equipment.
  • Food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing.
