Position: Operative (Waste/Plant)
Location: Osmotherley

Elvet Recruitment has been appointed to recruit an Operative for the regional division of a £75m waste company. The company is independently owned, has a strong family‑business ethos, and offers a range of employee benefits. Responsibilities
  • Offload and load pallets of mixed chemical waste containers from curtain‑sider vehicles using a counterbalance forklift truck.
  • Operate a forklift truck to move packaged materials between storage and processing areas.
  • Place packaged materials into storage within bundled areas, following segregation instructions under chemist supervision.
  • Sort and segregate chemical waste streams and repack/unpack waste.
  • Assist staff with recycling waste across the site.
  • Break down materials to maximise recycling.
  • Use a forklift truck to load lorries and move materials around the site.
  • Empty bins and replace bags in offices and on the factory floor.
  • Operate various machinery as required.
  • Perform manual handling tasks and other duties as needed.
  • Work outdoors with full PPE provided.
  • Assist with plant cleaning duties and keep working areas tidy at the end of each day.
  • Receive training on the job.
Qualifications
  • Forklift licence.
  • Experience working within a waste treatment plant or waste transfer station.
  • Experience with hazardous waste desirable but not essential.
  • Self‑starter who can meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
