Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for an experienced Shift Coordinator to join their production team in Kings Norton. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated supervisor or team leader to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment where quality, teamwork and continuous improvement are at the heart of the operation.
As Shift Coordinator, you will support the Shift Controller with the day-to-day running of the production department, ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are consistently achieved. You will lead and motivate a team of production operatives while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Shift Controller with the daily management of production operations.
- Lead, motivate and supervise production operatives to achieve production and quality targets.
- Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet production plans and customer demand.
- Deliver shift briefings and communicate production priorities to the team.
- Monitor operator performance, providing coaching, training and support where required.
- Ensure production processes and work instructions are followed correctly.
- Troubleshoot production issues and escalate maintenance concerns to minimise downtime.
- Work closely with colleagues across shifts to ensure effective communication and smooth handovers.
- Investigate quality concerns and support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with employee training, performance reviews and development.
- Provide cover for the Shift Controller during periods of absence.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Ideally a minimum of three years' manufacturing experience, with paint, automotive or similar production experience advantageous.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- A full UK driving licence.
