Overview

A defence & security engineering organisation in Brighton is looking for a Calibration Technician to support the day-to-day running of the calibration function-ensuring gauges and equipment are calibrated, controlled, and available to support production and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain calibration activities in line with company procedures and quality standards
  • Publish weekly calibration recall lists and process scheduled and overdue equipment
  • Gather, inspect and calibrate mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Obtain quotations, raise purchase orders and coordinate external calibration services where required
  • Arrange visits for calibration of in-house equipment
  • Issue gauges to production work orders within the required KPI timeframe
  • Raise Defect Equipment Notices for equipment that does not meet specification
  • Maintain the Gauge Tool Management database, including recording new equipment and managing gauge storage through the Supply Point System

Skillset/experience required:

  • Significant experience in a calibration or inspection environment (calibration experience essential)
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical inspection and calibration techniques
  • Mechanical manufacturing background
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 (ideally AS9100 Rev

    D)
  • PC literate (Word, Excel, databases)
  • Organised, methodical, strong communication and teamwork
  • Advantageous:
    Universal Linear Measurement (ULM) / high precision measurement of thread/plug/ring gauges (training available)
  • Mechanical engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent)
