Job Description & How to Apply Below

Glenbervie, Aberdeenshire | Permanent | Full-time | Rotating Shifts Description Looking for a hands-on role where no two shifts are quite the same? We're growing our Production teams at Macphie and have a number of opportunities available across our Glenbervie manufacturing site.

As a Production Operative , you'll play an important part in making the food ingredients and products that leave our site every day. From operating production equipment and monitoring processes to preparing ingredients, packing finished products and carrying out quality checks, you'll be right at the heart of our manufacturing operation.

We have opportunities across several different production areas, each involving slightly different processes and equipment. You don't need to know which area would suit you best before applying - that's where our recruitment process comes in.

We're looking for people who enjoy practical, hands-on work, take pride in doing things properly and understand the importance of safety, quality and teamwork. Previous food manufacturing experience would be useful, but it's not the only thing we're interested in. If you've worked in a fast-paced, practical environment and have the right attitude and willingness to learn, we'd like to hear from you.

What

you'll be doing
  • Operating and monitoring production and processing equipment.
  • Preparing, mixing, blending and handling ingredients and products.
  • Setting up and preparing packaging materials.
  • Carrying out quality checks throughout the production process.
  • Inspecting, packing, labelling, wrapping and palletising finished products.
  • Accurately completing production, quality and food-safety documentation.
  • Identifying and reporting issues with machinery, materials or finished products.
  • Following strict food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Keeping your working area clean and maintaining our "clean as you go" standards.
  • Working closely with your Team Lead, Shift Manager and colleagues across Production, Quality, Engineering and Distribution.
  • Supporting other production areas when required.

This is a hands-on manufacturing role, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a busy production environment and being on your feet throughout your shift.

Our shift patterns

Our Production teams operate different rotating shift patterns depending on the area you join. Opportunities are available across:

  • Two-shift rotation
  • Early: 06:00-14:00
  • Back shift: 14:00-22:00
  • Three-shift rotation
  • Early: 06:00-14:00
  • Back shift: 14:00-22:00
  • Night: 22:00-06:00

If you join a team where night shifts form part of your rotation, you'll receive an additional 8.5% night-shift allowance for night-shift working. We'll talk you through the different shift patterns during the recruitment process and consider your availability alongside where your skills and experience could be the best fit.

We're interested in what you can bring - not just your job title or where you've worked before. You could already have experience in food manufacturing or FMCG, or you may come from another hands-on environment where safety, quality, teamwork and working at pace are important.

We'd particularly like to hear from you if you:
  • Enjoy practical, hands-on work.
  • Have experience working in a busy production, manufacturing, warehouse or similar environment.
  • Have good attention to detail and take pride in getting things right.
  • Can follow processes and instructions accurately.
  • Have a strong awareness of Health & Safety.
  • Are comfortable working to production targets and deadlines.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Are reliable, motivated and willing to learn.
  • Are comfortable using basic computerised systems.
  • Can communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues.
  • Are happy working in an environment where high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are essential.

Previous food manufacturing/FMCG experience is an advantage, but isn't essential for every opportunity.

A different kind of recruitment process

As we're recruiting for multiple opportunities across our Production teams , we're planning to invite shortlisted candidates to a Production Assessment Day at our Glenbervie site . Rather than relying on a CV and traditional interview alone, we want to give you the opportunity to show us what you can do . You'll get the chance to learn more about Macphie and our Production operation, see the working environment and take part in some straightforward practical and interview-based activities.

It will also help us understand your individual strengths and consider which of…
