Church Youth and Families Worker
Location: Highworth and Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire
Salary: Up to £35,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (initial 3-year contract)

St Michael’s Church, Highworth, and St Leonard’s Church, Broad Blunsdon, are seeking a dedicated Church Youth and Families Worker to join our team and help grow God’s Kingdom.

St Michael’s Church is a thriving evangelical Church of England community in Highworth, a picturesque Cotswold market town near Swindon. With a regular Sunday congregation of 60–80 people and hundreds attending annual festival services, we are deeply rooted in our community.
St Leonard’s Church, located in the growing village of Broad Blunsdon, has a lively congregation with strong ties to the local Church of England Primary School.
Our churches have a long history of ministry to young people and families, including a youth group of 20+ teenagers and Sunday sessions that help young people connect with the Bible and their faith. Both churches are central to their communities, hosting thriving toddler groups and various community events.
About the RoleAs our Church Youth and Families Worker, you will:
- Lead and develop Sunday youth sessions, helping young people grow in their faith.
- Build strong relationships with local primary and secondary schools, taking assemblies and collaborating with staff and students.
- Work with other youth workers across Highworth and Swindon to create a united Christian presence.
- Support and nurture volunteers, helping them develop their gifts and abilities.
- Explore new ways to reach and inspire young people and families, expanding our ministry in fresh, Spirit-led directions.
We are seeking someone who:
- Has at least two years of youth work experience (church context preferred).
- Is educated to degree level or has equivalent relevant qualifications or experience.
- Is an active member of a local church, living a lifestyle that reflects their faith.
- Is enthusiastic, self‑motivated, and passionate about evangelism.
- Can work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Is comfortable working across a range of church traditions and community groups.
- A salary of up to £35,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications).
- A team of volunteers, peer support, and mentoring opportunities.
- Admin support from the Church Office.
- Working expenses and mileage covered.
- Four weeks of paid holiday per year, plus four extra Sundays as holiday.
- A contributory pension scheme.
- Accommodation provided for interviews, if required.
- This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
- The postholder must be a practicing Christian, as per part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
- You must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
