The Nidderdale National Landscape is a nationally protected landscape on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. We are seeking a knowledgeable, motivated and collaborative Heritage Officer to lead our work to protect, conserve and enhance the area’s rich built and cultural heritage.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in heritage conservation, excellent relationship‑building skills and a passion for working with land managers, communities and partners to deliver high‑quality heritage outcomes. You’ll be someone who can work independently, make sound decisions, manage projects confidently and communicate the value of heritage to a wide range of audiences.

You will be based at the Nidderdale National Landscape office in Pateley Bridge, working as part of a friendly and dedicated team delivering a wide range of landscape, nature, heritage and community programmes. You will collaborate closely with farmers, land managers, community groups, heritage bodies and statutory organisations such as Historic England.

We offer hybrid and flexible working. A full driving licence and access to a car is essential due to the need for regular site visits across the National Landscape.

NYC are committed to directly recruiting staff and will not accept applications nor services from agency suppliers in respect of our vacancies.

NYC are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

To ensure we deliver inclusive services we strive to have a diverse workforce where everybody can be themselves by respecting differences and embedding equality of opportunity. We celebrate diversity and recognise each other’s contributions; we therefore welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
