Role Overview
We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and clinically capable Band 5 Trained Nurse to join our nursing team for our 22‑bedded Ward on Harold White Ward at St Austell Community Hospital. The Trained Nurse role requires the post holder to be committed to the ongoing development of the ward and multi‑disciplinary team working. We aim to deliver the highest standard of patient and rehabilitative care to our predominantly elderly patients.
Responsibilitiesand Expectations
- The assessment of care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of care in the ward setting.
- Provide all forms of nursing care without direct supervision, acting as a team leader.
- Provide mentorship to pre‑ and post‑registration students and Healthcare Assistants undertaking the National Vocational Awards.
- Undertake a range of Early, Late and Night duties on a rotational basis in order to support 24‑hour nursing care, 7 days per week.
- Flexible working approach required to support other hospitals in the locality as service needs require.
- Good level of organisational, communication and clinical skills relevant to the post.
- Act as a positive role model.
- Motivated, forward‑thinking with a “can‑do” attitude and passion for nursing.
- 2 in‑patient wards – Harold White and Heligano Minor Injury Unit
- Out‑patient department
- Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Departments
- X‑ray Department
- Community Nurse Base
- Podiatry
