Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the female acute ward – Westleigh Unit at Atherleigh Park. Westleigh Unit is a 20‑bedded female acute psychiatric service that provides assessment, treatment and support to adults of working age within the GM footprint, often experiencing psychiatric crisis and complex mental health needs.

• Maintain the values of the ward, promoting openness, transparency and learning.
• Supervise junior staff and mentor new staff, newly qualified nurses and junior staff.
• Oversee medication management and provision of physical health care on the ward.
• Support the Ward Manager with HR tasks such as return to work and sickness monitoring.
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Manage shifts as a nurse in charge.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop risk management plans to support incident response on the ward.
