HMP Oakwood is a category C prison located in Wolverhampton and is one of the largest in the UK, housing over 1,500 men.

Job Summary

Senior Primary Care Nurse – join our Primary Care team to deliver high‑quality, nurse‑led care and prevent hospital admissions in a secure environment.

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week.

Shifts include 10‑/12‑hour rotations and a mix of weekdays and weekends, with a pattern of 1 in 3 weekends covered.

Remuneration

£43,609–£49,175 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Perform medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, assess patients, and conduct reception screening
  • Attend emergency response situations and act appropriately
  • Seek out, listen to, and act on patient feedback to personalise care
  • Provide non‑judgemental care aligned with the Health in Justice competency framework
  • Forge strong links with partners and stakeholders to build trust and confidence in the service
  • Embed evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement
  • Support the development of strong, collaborative multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse – Adult
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Understanding of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working in complex settings
  • Probity and a non‑judgemental, compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable but not essential
