An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on George Earle ward. We are an acute Stroke, neurology and general medical ward with a respiratory speciality.
You will be someone who is calm and able to treat your patient holistically, willing to get to know your patient and their families to enhance their care and be proactive in meeting the needs of the service.
You will be willing to learn, able to manage patients having been treated with thrombolysis, IV blood pressure control and support recovery of stroke patients.
Training and Education with competencies will be provided.
You must be committed to providing high quality care to acutely ill patients with complex needs and possess effective communication skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The post offers the opportunity for personal and professional development.

Main duties of the jobWork as a registered nurse within a team responsible to the team leader/shift coordinator caring for patients and their carer's.
Fully utilise the learning opportunities available. You will gain an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients and their carer's and to develop a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver nursing care.
Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carer's, visitors and staff.
Comply with the Trust's values and expected behaviours.
Safely nurse patients with acute stroke, neurological or medical needs.

Job responsibilitiesWork as a registered nurse within the team, responsible to the team leader/shift coordinator caring for patients and their carers. Provide holistic and output-driven care in accordance with Trust policies, supporting acute stroke and neurological patients through thrombolysis, IV BP control, and rehabilitation.
Person Specification Qualifications and training- Registered Nurse Adult
- Current/awaiting registration with NMC
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience of Stroke Nursing
- Enthusiasm for medical nursing
- Experience of working in a ward environment
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload for self and others
- Knowledge of stroke and neurological conditions
- Experience of working in an acute environment
- Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care
- Management of an acutely ill patient
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary team members
- Evidence of working well within a team
- Ability to demonstrate motivation
- Ability to work accurately and reliably under pressure
