Location: Tendring Heath

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 9am‑5pm (occasional weekend work may be required).

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate physical healthcare plans/treatments for patients to maintain optimum physical well‑being.
  • Ensure routine and ad‑hoc tests (e.g., blood screening for Clozapine/Lithium) are carried out and recorded in Care notes.
  • Ensure routine testing for long‑term conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) is carried out and results recorded in Care notes and in line with national guidance.
  • Lead development and review of all physical health care plans, ensuring interventions are clear and met.
  • Support the clinical team on the ward and cover staff when required.
  • Ensure all patients have ECGs as prescribed by the Consultant and evidence documented on Care notes.
  • Lead staff education on Naso‑gastric tube feeding, ensuring adherence to prescriptions and updating care plans.
  • Attend ICR meetings weekly, contributing to the development and review of physical healthcare plans.
  • Chair the hospital’s healthy living group, promoting monthly physical well‑being topics such as obesity, smoking cessation and exercise.
  • Act as the named lead for infection control, providing professional advice, education and support to staff in all clinical and non‑clinical areas.
  • Take part in clinical audits and support emergency drills.
  • Facilitate educational workshops and teaching sessions on best practice treatments in physical care.
  • Support immunisation within the hospital (flu vaccine, routine childhood vaccinations), ensuring timely delivery.
  • Offer health promotion across a range of conditions for staff.
  • Work alongside families and professionals to develop a positive approach to healthy living.
Qualifications
  • Full and valid NMC registration (evidence required).
  • Minimum 2–3 years post‑registration experience.
  • Experience in NG feeding and phlebotomy.
  • Experience training others.
  • Understanding of eating disorders and mental health.
  • Experience working with young people is desirable.
  • All candidates will be subject to a DBS disclosure.
