NHS Fife Older Adult Community Mental Health Team – Central Fife

The Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Central Fife is looking for Senior Community Mental Health Nurses to join our dedicated team. Successful candidates will be based at Whyteman's Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy and will work mainly within the community across Central Fife.

Applicants must be a Registered Mental Health Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have experience working with older adults, including those with functional and organic conditions.

• Conduct mental health assessments and develop, implement and evaluate person‑centred, individualised care plans for patients.
• Maintain an independent caseload and work autonomously while being supported by a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Provide direct care and support within patients’ homes and care homes, handling challenging situations confidently and professionally.
• Supervise and support junior staff members, including acting as an assessor/supervisor for Student Nurses.
• Assist the Nurse Team Lead with delegated managerial tasks and contribute to team leadership and motivation.
• Ensure timely travel across a large geographical area as required by the role.

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council).
• Background in working with older adults with functional and organic conditions.
• Knowledge and experience in mental health care for older adults, including addressing health and wellbeing issues.
• Ability to engage patients to support recovery and personal outcomes.
• Proficiency in IT systems such as Microsoft Office and Morse.
• Strong team‑working, leadership, motivation and initiative skills.
• Must be willing and able to travel across a large geographical area efficiently.
• Member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme prior to appointment.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.

The service operates Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. Weekend work may be required in the future.
