Practice Nurse

Overview

Practice nursing focusses on clinical expertise, continuity of care and prevention across our Primary Care team at Allied Medical Practice and Ship Street Surgery, Brighton. The role involves delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a multidisciplinary team in a busy primary care environment.

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care: assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice, working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and practice protocols.
• Manage long‑term conditions: diagnose, monitor and support the development of individual management plans for patients with diabetes, respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease and other conditions in partnership with patients and other professionals.
• Perform prevention, screening and health promotion activities: NHS Health Checks, cervical screening, immunisations, travel health advice, smoking cessation support and wider preventative interventions.
• Carry out routine clinical procedures safely: wound care, ear care, phlebotomy, ECGs, blood‑pressure monitoring and other clinical tasks in line with practice policy.
• Support quality and clinical governance: accurate coding and recording of patient data to support QOF and Enhanced Services and contribute to high standards of clinical governance and best practice.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team: independently and collaboratively with GPs, HCAs, General Practice Assistants and other clinical colleagues to deliver safe and coordinated care.
• Conduct risk assessment and safeguarding: recognise safeguarding concerns and wider risk issues (including domestic abuse, child protection and vulnerable adults) and ensure appropriate escalation in line with policy.

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
• Experience working in general practice or primary care
• Experience managing long‑term conditions
• Strong clinical judgement and safe decision‑making
• Clear and effective communication with patients and colleagues
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in clinical documentation
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient‑centred care

• Annual pay of £43,663.40
