Job overview 30 hours per week 12-month fixed term contractThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to take on the role of Lead ANNP on a 12-month secondment and play a key role in shaping the future of neonatal and perinatal services at Great Western Hospital.
Over the next 12 months, the successful candidate will support a significant workforce transformation programme to support delivery of BAPM standards and our ambition to achieve sustainable 24/7 ANNP cover. A key focus of the role will be developing and supporting our ANNP workforce through mentorship of trainee ANNPs, facilitating the consolidation of newly qualified practitioners, and creating a culture of learning and professional development.
The Lead ANNP will also provide strategic and operational leadership for the ongoing development of Transitional Care services, supporting care closer to mothers and babies while reducing unnecessary neonatal admissions. Working collaboratively across maternity and neonatal services, the post holder will lead and support quality improvement initiatives that enhance safety, experience and outcomes across the perinatal pathway.
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence service development at a pivotal time, working alongside multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver innovative, evidence-based care and drive meaningful improvements for babies, families and staff.
Main duties of the jobThe role of the Lead Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is built around the STAR values of the organisation. It is a role that has a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making.
The Lead Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner provides advanced neonatal nursing practice with autonomy, in accordance with local guidelines and protocols. They will demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in a specialist area of practice within a defined patient group. They will receive and processes complex, sensitive and contentious information, initiating actions required.
The Lead Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will be instrumental in advancing, directing and supervising the development of the ANNP team.
