Full-time - Hybrid / Clinic-based

Role Purpose

To undertake structured ADHD assessments as part of a consultant-led service, contributing to safe diagnosis, risk assessment, and onward care planning for children aged 7+, young people, and adults, in line with NICE NG87 and CQC requirements. Working in a busy Sheffield based clinic providing assessments, reports and feedback sessions.

Key Responsibilities ADHD Assessment
  • Conduct ADHD assessments using structured clinical frameworks
  • Complete detailed clinical histories, including:
  • Developmental history
  • Mental health history
  • Medication history
  • Family and social context
  • Administer and score validated ADHD rating scales, including:
  • Conners
  • SNAP-IV
  • DIVA-5 (where trained)
  • Obtain and review collateral information from:
  • Parents/carers
  • Schools
  • GPs
  • Identify complexity and elevate to MDT or Consultant review
Risk, Physical Health & Safeguarding
  • Undertake risk assessments including:
  • Safeguarding
  • Self-harm and vulnerability
  • Identify physical health considerations relevant to ADHD and medication pathways
  • Ensure consent and capacity are appropriately assessed and recorded
  • Follow safeguarding and escalation procedures
MDT Working & Care Pathways
  • Present assessment findings at ADHD MDT meetings
  • Work closely with prescribers to support safe care planning
  • Support transition from assessment into:
  • Psychoeducation
  • Medication initiation and titration (where appropriate)
  • Shared Care protocols
Reporting & Documentation
  • Contribute to diagnostic reports and clinical summaries
  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation in clinical systems
  • Support clear communication with GPs, families, and schools
  • Ensure compliance with Right to Choose and NHS reporting standards
Essential Criteria
  • Registered Nurse (RMN / RNLD / RSCN)
  • Current NMC registration
  • Formal ADHD training and experience
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Knowledge of:
  • NICE NG87
  • Safeguarding frameworks
  • Consent and capacity
  • Minimum of 1 year experience of assessing and producing ADHD reports.
Desirable
  • Experience working in ADHD or CAMHS services
  • Experience with in Right to Choose or NHS pathways
  • Experience supporting ADHD medication pathways
  • Experience assessing co-occurring Autism
