Contract: Permanent

We have an opportunity for an experienced Staff Nurse to join our Urology, Nephrology and Neurosciences team at The London Clinic. You will care for patients with a variety of specialist needs, build your clinical knowledge and work alongside colleagues who share your commitment to safe, compassionate nursing.

A little about the role

Our department brings together three specialties, offering a varied nursing role caring for patients undergoing investigations, receiving medical treatment or recovering from surgery.

Urology focuses on conditions affecting the urinary system, including the kidneys, bladder and prostate. Nephrology involves caring for people with kidney conditions, while neurosciences cover conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system.

Patients may need support with pain, mobility, personal care or changes to their independence. Others may feel anxious about a diagnosis, procedure or what their recovery will involve. Taking time to listen, explain and provide reassurance will be an important part of your role.

Working with the Ward Manager, senior nurses, consultants and wider clinical team, you will assess patients' needs, deliver individualised care and monitor their progress. You will help patients prepare for treatment, support them throughout their stay and contribute to a safe discharge.

This is an opportunity to broaden your experience across specialist medical and surgical nursing while building positive relationships with patients and their families.

What you'll be doing
  • Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised nursing care, taking account of each patient's physical and emotional needs.
  • Prepare patients for investigations and procedures and provide care before and after surgery.
  • Monitor patients' recovery, recognise changes in their condition and escalat? Wait:
  • Support pain management, mobility, nutrition, personal care and recovery, helping patients maintain their dignity and independence.
  • Administer medicines safely and provide treatment within your assessed competencies.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and relatives, helping them understand their care and feel involved in decisions.
  • Work closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate electronic patient records and provide clear handovers
  • Support Healthcare Assistants, students and colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Follow infection prevention and patient safety procedures and contribute to audits and improvements in care.
What we are looking for:

You will be a compassionate and organised registered nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in providing attentive, personal care.

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least two years of Band 5 experience in a gastrointestinal environment, as specified in the job description.
  • Experience in acute nursing and evidence of high standards of clinical practice.
  • Competence in intravenous medicines administration, venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording and epidural care.
  • The ability to organise care, prioritise effectively and provide clear clinical guidance.
  • Confidence using electronic patient records and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • A commitment to continued learning, patient safety and developing others.
What you'll be part of

You will join a specialist ward team caring for people whose conditions and treatment can affect their comfort, confidence and independence. Your nursing skills will matter, alongside your ability to notice the small things, offer reassurance and help patients feel understood.

Working across these specialties will give you the opportunity to strengthen your assessment skills, develop your knowledge of specialist care and learn from experienced nurses and the wider clinical team.
