Registered Mental Health Nurse

A registered mental health nurse post on the 20-bed all-male secure ward at Priory Hospital Ty Cwm Rhondda, a low secure unit for men with complex needs. The work is person-centred, covering care planning with patients and families, monitoring progress and coordinating nursing care for a defined group of patients. Full-time at 37.5 hours a week, it includes shift leadership and support for newly qualified colleagues through preceptorship.

Applicants need active NMC registration and six to twelve months' post-registration experience.

• Deliver person-centred nursing care to a defined group of patients
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans with patients and families
• Build therapeutic relationships, monitor progress and respond to changing clinical needs
• Contribute to recovery outcomes within a safe, supportive environment
• Work within a multidisciplinary team
• Lead shifts when required and coordinate nursing care
• Take part in clinical meetings
• Support newly qualified colleagues through preceptorship
• Maintain professional development through clinical supervision and reflective practice
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, the Mental Health Act, medicines management policies, the NMC Code and organisational policies

• Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
• Active NMC registration

• 6-12 months post-registration experience
• Completed preceptorship programme

• Knowledge of NMC guidelines and professional practice
