Crew Member, Outdoor​/Nature​/Animal Care

Gardens of Distinction is a New York City based landscaping firm specializing in fine gardening. Working on a variety of landscapes and plantings, we are family run business that takes pride in what we do. We are looking for a crew member to join our team that is as enthusiastic about gardening as we are. Working interactively with our team, our goal is to make every day enjoyable while making an impact across New York’s landscape.

As a crew member, you would tackle a variety of general and horticultural tasks that are common to large gardens and private residences. Keeping to the horticultural standard we are known for, the role requires a strong work ethic, forward thinking / positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Working collaboratively with other team members and individually, this is a physical role that requires previous experience with urban garden installations and maintenance.

Our season starts in March and ends in December, 5 days a week.

• Experience as a urban gardener, with a focus on high-end or fine gardening preferred
• Basic / working knowledge of plant species, plant care, and pest management
• Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Can take direction and execute tasks in a timely / efficient manner
• Exceptional eye for detail and a passion for creating and maintaining beautiful and well-structured gardens
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and requirements, and to work in varying weather conditions (rain, heat, cold)
• A positive attitude amongst colleagues and clients
• Experience using horticultural tools and power equipment.
