Location: Hathersage

The Role

As a Campsite Warden at North Lees Campsite, Hathersage, you will assist with the day‑to‑day operation of our popular campsite and nearby holiday cottage and dealing with customer enquiries and bookings.

You will take pride in your work and, with the support of the Property Manager and Campsite Manager, you will ensure the site is presented in the best possible condition to welcome visitors and promote the National Park Authority.

Your duties will include

  • Guiding and supervising visitors to the campsite and holiday accommodation
  • Enforcing rules and maintaining safety on site
  • Cleaning of the shower and toilet block and camping pods
  • Dealing with telephone and email enquiries and reservations
  • Co‑ordinating changeover days with the cleaning contract provider
  • Collecting camping fees and managing the cash
  • Answering out of hours calls to manage queries from campers and attending emergency callouts
  • Deputising for the Campsite Manager as required during annual leave, sickness and other absences
Requirements

This is an annualised‑hours post of 891 hours per annum, with more hours worked during busier periods of the year. The exact distribution of hours may vary due to school holidays and operational requirements, but as a rough guide:

  • April to August: 27 hours per week
  • September to October: 15 hours per week
  • November to February: 7 hours per week
  • March: 15 hours per week

Working pattern includes Fridays (of which a minimum 1 shift per month will be an evening shift), evenings and weekends (2 weekend shifts per month 1 of which will be a Saturday).

The Campsite

North Lees campsite is located in the sheltered Hope Valley, 1.5 miles north of Hathersage. It is within short walking distance of numerous world‑class climbing, bouldering, cycling and walking routes. North Lees campsite is the ideal base for those seeking quiet outdoor recreation in stunning surroundings and for visitors wishing to explore the Peak District National Park. The nearby woodlands, farmland and moorland are managed for conservation and form part of our Stanage‑North Lees estate.

You will take pride in your work and, with the support of the Property Manager and Estate Ranger, you will ensure the site is presented in the best possible condition to welcome visitors and promote the National Park Authority. You will need

  • Previous experience in a similar hospitality role
  • Practical maintenance skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A full, valid driving licence
