This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Swindon for a Grounds Maintenance Operative. The role involves carrying out routine grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, shrub and border maintenance, litter picking, and basic soft landscaping. The Grounds Maintenance Operative will operate and care for a range of machinery and tools, follow scheduled work plans, and ensure sites are kept safe, clean, and presentable.
Responsibilities include reporting any site issues or hazards, performing basic checks on equipment, and following health and safety procedures at all times. The role also involves working as part of a team, interacting professionally with clients and the public, and supporting seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance and winter gritting when required.
- Strong equipment care capabilities, including equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance skills.
- Solid technical ability in maintenance, maintenance & repair, and troubleshooting for grounds care tools and machinery.
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, or a related outdoor role is highly beneficial.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices, including safe use of powered equipment and manual handling.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with good physical fitness and stamina.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable; relevant tickets for grounds machinery (e.g., strimmers, ride‑on mowers, spraying) are an advantage.
