Location: Duns

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive equine team at our Duns branch. We are sorry to be saying goodbye to two valued part-time vets as they move on to new adventures—one taking up an equine internship and the other relocating to Australia.

We are seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our Duns team. This opportunity would suit a confident and proactive vet with a passion for equine practice and a commitment to continuing to develop their clinical expertise.

You will be part of a collaborative and well-established team that places genuine emphasis on professional development and high levels of clinical support, working within a busy and varied equine caseload.

About Us

Galedin Veterinary is a large, mixed veterinary practice covering the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and North Northumberland. We are an RCVS Accredited Equine Ambulatory Practice, as well as an RCVS Approved Graduate Development Practice. Additionally, we are on the BEVA AI List and a member of the BEVA Safer Horse Rescue Scheme.

We offer an excellent environment for career progression, with many of our vets undertaking certificates or further postgraduate qualifications. We are committed to supporting our team to grow, develop and thrive in their careers.

The Rota

Most of our vets work 4.5- or 4-day weeks, but there is potential for flexibility. The role also includes an equal share of the out-of-hours rota, with time off in‑lieu of weekends on call.

The Area

We get the best of both worlds being based in the beautiful rural Scottish Borders but within an hour’s drive of Edinburgh. Duns offers an excellent quality of life, combining a welcoming community and family‑friendly environment with easy access to the coast, beautiful countryside and a wide range of outdoor and social activities.
