Job Overview

Mixed or Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon – FTC at Galedin Vets, Duns branch. The role is a fixed‑term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.

The practice is based in the rural Scottish Borders, within an hour’s drive of Edinburgh, offering a balance of farm and mixed animal work in a friendly team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care for mixed and farm animals, including surgery, consultations, and diagnostic work using modern equipment (DR, dental X‑ray, ultrasound).
  • Conduct routine farm work such as health planning, fertility testing, and emergency care.
  • Work a 4.5‑day week with potential flexibility; share on‑call duties for farm‑only calls (currently 1 in 7/8, moving to 1 in
    4).
  • Participate in case discussion and support with a team of small animal vets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years' clinical farm experience.
  • Experience in mixed animal veterinary medicine.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and on‑call duties.

Location & Working Hours

Based in Duns, Scottish Borders. Typical schedule is a 4.5‑day week, with flexibility to adjust the species split preference and on‑call duties.
