An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a well-established precision engineering business manufacturing high-precision, safety-critical components.
Working within the Quality team, you will be responsible for inspecting precision-engineered components, ensuring they meet customer specifications and quality standards before release to production or the customer.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-engineered components.
- Programming and operating CMM equipment as part of the inspection process.
- Interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T and customer specifications.
- Producing and reviewing inspection reports and First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102).
- Supporting root cause investigations and corrective actions relating to non-conforming products.
- Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to maintain quality standards.
- Ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
- Maintaining calibration records and measurement traceability.
- Supporting internal and external audits and continuous improvement activities.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Quality Inspector within precision engineering, machining or aerospace.
- Experience programming and operating CMM equipment.
- A good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience completing First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102).
- Competence using inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges and shadow graphs.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to inspection.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Engineering or Quality qualification or apprenticeship.
- Experience with in a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SPC, MSA and continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience of NADCAP, ISIR, FAI or PPAP.
- £33,000 - £36,000 per annum, depending on experience.
