The Opportunity
As part of a major hydro-electric power scheme in the Scottish Highlands, our client is delivering a highly complex infrastructure programme where precision, assurance, and continuous improvement are critical to success. With the scale and technical demands of the project increasing, there is a need for a Quality Manager to build and lead a robust quality function that ensures every element of delivery meets the highest standards.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how quality is defined, measured, and delivered across a flagship renewable energy project, working at the intersection of engineering, construction, and operational excellence.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Develop and implement the project Quality Management framework, including plans, procedures, and systems
Lead and manage quality teams including Quality Engineers and Document Control
Establish and oversee the project assurance regime, ensuring all work is compliant and certifiable
Plan and conduct audits, inspections, and surveillance activities across the project
Manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring timely approval and completion
Oversee non-conformance processes, ensuring issues are tracked, resolved, and closed effectively
Manage document control processes, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance
Support the production of handover documentation including O&M manuals and H&S files
Analyse quality data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Lead lessons learned sessions and implement quality improvement strategies
Provide expert advice and coaching on quality across project teams and stakeholders
Ensure governance requirements are met, including GDPR/Data Protection where applicable
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Significant experience in a Quality Manager role within construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of quality management systems, assurance processes, and compliance
Experience managing audits, inspections, and certification of works
Proven track record of managing non-conformance processes and driving quality improvements
Experience managing document control systems and procedures
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams
High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes

It’s great if you also have the following

Experience with in renewable energy or major infrastructure projects
Familiarity with ISO standards and document control frameworks (e.g., ISO 19650)

Experience with EDMS platforms such as Project Wise, A-Site, or similar
Experience managing commissioning, testing, and handover processes
Ability to mentor and develop quality teams
Experience working in complex, joint venture environments
The setting for the role
This is a site-based leadership role within a large-scale hydro-electric project in the Scottish Highlands, working across multiple disciplines and delivery teams. You will operate in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, ensuring that quality is embedded at every stage of the project—from planning and construction through to commissioning and handover.
