Workshop based - Unit 10, Epsom Downs Metro Centre, Waterfield, Tadworth, Surrey, KT20 5LR
35 hours per week (09.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday) £40,935perannum 29 days' annual leave days (plus Bank Holidays) Pension - matched company contribution up to 6% Company sick pay The Opportunity The Quali ty Assurance Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership, quality management, and regulatory compliance of all products manufactured, refurbished and supported by the Tadworth operation. Please note, this role involves working with medical certificated devices.
Therefore, candidates will need to have demonstrable experience in working with such devices. This role will lead the safe and effective delivery of the Bugzi powered wheelchair loan service whilst also providing technical oversight across the wider product portfolio. This includes responsibility for product compliance, quality systems, production support, technical problem solving, product improvement, and workshop operations. The role combines technical leadership with practical hands-on engineering and manufacturing responsibilities.
Purpose of the Role The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership, quality management, and regulatory compliance of all products manufactured, refurbished and supported by the Tadworth operation. This role will lead the safe and effective delivery of the Bugzi powered wheelchair loan service whilst also providing technical oversight across the wider product portfolio. This includes responsibility for product compliance, quality systems, production support, technical problem solving, product improvement, and workshop operations.
Working closely with operational and service colleagues, the postholder will ensure products are manufactured, refurbished and maintained to the required standards, whilst identifying opportunities to improve product performance, reliability, sustainability and impact for the families Cerebra supports. The role combines technical leadership with practical hands-on engineering and manufacturing responsibilities. The postholder will be expected to actively participate in the manufacture, refurbishment, modification, testing and validation of products, whilst also leading quality, compliance, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Technical Leadership Act as the technical lead and engineering authority for all products manufactured, refurbished and supported by the Tadworth operation. Provide day-to-day technical guidance, problem-solving, and decision-making support to workshop and operational staff. Maintain oversight of technical documentation, specifications, product records, and engineering change activities. Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and external technical partners to support service delivery and product development.
Contribute technical expertise to strategic planning, service improvement, and the introduction of new products, technologies and manufacturing processes.
2. Quality and Medical Device Compliance Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure products are manufactured, refurbished, and maintained in accordance with applicable quality procedures, medical device regulations and relevant standards. Maintain technical files, risk assessments, compliance documentation, and product records. Lead investigations into complaints, incidents, non-conformances and corrective actions, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
Act as the lead for audits, regulatory compliance, and quality-related activities across the service.
