Envases UK is a manufacturing company that has been operating out of Port Talbot since 1993 which has experienced steady and sustained growth based on a combination of global blue chip and smaller bespoke customer bases. Envases UK is part of the Envases group, which also incorporates a sister Company in Bilbao, Spain. The site at Port Talbot is a "state of the art" facility in which Envases manufactures aluminum aerosol containers that are used in personal care, healthcare and pharmaceutical products.

to this Envases has created new roles and are seeking to employ a HSE & Sustainability Technician (HSES). Benefits

Key Responsibilities

The HSES Technician plays a key operational role in supporting the HSES Manager with the effective day-to-day implementation of the company's Health & Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Management Systems. Spending a significant time on the factory floor, the role focuses on ensuring legal compliance and adherence to Company policies & procedures. The HSES Technician is responsible for supporting the provision of a safe and healthy working environment for employees, contractors and visitors and also assisting with the coordination of the Company’s environmental and sustainability management systems.

  • Support the implementation and continual improvement of the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Management Systems.
  • Undertake routine workplace inspections, audits and compliance assessments to ensure personnel, equipment, buildings and working practices meet legal and Company requirements.
  • Conduct or assist with accident, incident, near miss and hazard investigations. using recognised Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Be an active member of the site's emergency response team, supporting fire evacuations, spill response, emergency drills, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Company's Sustainability Strategy and environmental management programmes.
  • Assist with monitoring energy consumption, emissions, water usage, effluent systems and environmental performance indicators.
  • Conduct Health & Safety inductions for new employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Encourage employee engagement by promoting hazard reporting, safety observations, behavioural safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Deliver in-house Health & Safety training courses, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve safety performance, environmental performance and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute positively to the Company's vision, values and strategic objectives.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience supporting Health, Safety and Environmental management systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage, influence and build effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the business.
  • Practical approach to Health & Safety with the confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours constructively and professionally.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and make informed decisions based on data and observations.
  • Good problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). (Microsoft SharePoint, Teams desirable).
  • Willingness to spend significant time on the factory floor promoting a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Environmental or Sustainability qualification (ISEP/IEMA or NEBOSH Environmental Certificate).
  • Experience working with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Experience conducting internal and external audits.
  • Experience supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
  • Experience delivering Health & Safety inductions, toolbox talks or employee training.
  • Experience of contractor management, permit-to-work systems and risk assessments.
  • First Aid at Work, Fire Marshal and/or Mental Health First Aid qualifications.
