The RoleWe are looking for a full-time Quality Engineer / Quality Inspection Engineer to join our busy surface treatments facility in Kidderminster.
This is a hands-on role involving the inspection of incoming, in-process and completed parts, with a particular focus on aerospace and other quality-critical work.
You will need excellent attention to detail, confidence in reading engineering drawings and technical specifications, and the ability to communicate clearly with management, customers and colleagues on the shop floor.
Main Duties- Inspect incoming, in-process and completed parts for damage, contamination, machining faults and other non-conformances.
- Carry out final inspection of aerospace parts.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, customer requirements and specifications such as DEF STAN, MIL-SPEC and ISO standards.
- Carry out contract reviews, particularly for aerospace work.
- Complete dimensional inspection reports and support FAIR dimensional build-up and sign-off.
- Carry out in-process inspection and sampling.
- Audit job cards and paperwork to ensure requirements have been followed correctly.
- Quarantine non-conforming products and maintain accurate inspection and traceability records.
- Support root cause investigations for internal rejects and customer returns, including RCCA, 5 Why and 8D.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Lead and contribute to quality meetings on site.
- Work closely with the shop floor to maintain high quality standards.
- Contribute to process and continuous improvement activities.
Previous QA/QC experience is essential
, ideally within metal finishing, aerospace, defence, precision engineering or a similar manufacturing environment.
You should be:
- Confident reading engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Hands-on, analytical and methodical.
- Experienced in visual and dimensional inspection.
- Comfortable using measuring equipment.
- Able to maintain accurate quality and traceability records.
- Confident identifying non-conformances and stopping work where necessary.
- Able to communicate clearly with customers, management and shop-floor colleagues.
Experience with
RCCA, 5 Why and 8D is preferred.
Experience with
NADCAP and AS9100D would also be an advantage, along with knowledge of Health & Safety and ISO 14001
.
