We are seeking applications for a short‑term Research Associate post to work within the School of Mathematical Sciences at Lancaster University, as part of the EPSRC grant “Singularities and Symplectic Topology”.
This grant focuses on the interface between symplectic topology and algebraic geometry. Your role will involve working independently and collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (Jonny Evans) on research problems in these areas, publishing results and presenting at conferences.
You should have completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry, or a closely related discipline. You should have a good record of research, preferably available on the arXiv, and be able to demonstrate a clear research agenda that ties in with the grant.
The position is available from 1 March 2026 or as soon thereafter as convenient, and will run until the end of the grant on 31 August 2026. Interviews will be carried out shortly after the closing date.
Interested candidates should contact Dr Jonny Evans () with any queries about the position.
